Anubis

His qualities are not devouring but steadfast and devout of those of a hunting dog. The origin of his name means ' putrefaction ' a possible link to his functions as lord of the dead. Skilled in the arts of embalming, he guards the body in the tomb and performs the intricate mummification - packing the body with spices, binding the bones, wrapping the body in linen, casting protective spells that guarantee immortality. He leads the dead into the hall of judgement for the weighing of heart ceremony.
