Aphosis
The snake enemy of the sun, the embodiment of darkness and chaos, a companion of Seth. Born from the spittle of the primeval snake goddess Neith, his name means " he whom she spat out" This underworld represents dark power of the crone. Aphosis attacked Ra at Sunrise and sunset thus smearing skies with red blood. It was said that Ra assumed the form of the cat and finally slew the serpent beneath the sacred sycamore. Apophis lived in the waters of Num and the coils of its body formed the labyrinthine masks of the underworld.
